Biswanath’s short films win international acclaim

Filmmaker Biswanath Rath’s short films have won several international awards and acclaim in the last few days. He is happy that his short films are getting appreciation in the global festival circuit.
His short film Ravaiyaa that was shot during the lockdown with a mobile phone has been winning hearts across the globe. It won the Best Short Film award in the Drama category at the RATMA International 10 Minutes Film Festival, UK. Besides, it was among the top 21 best short films selected from across the globe in the Indian Film festival of Melbourn (IFFM). The films are currently being screened digitally.
“It is a great feeling for a filmmaker, when his films earn laurels at various international platforms. In IFFM, there are several short films starring Vidya Balan, Sanjay Suri, Adil Hussain, Eisha Chopra and others. So, being selected among 21 such films is itself an honour,” said Biswanath.
Ravaiyaa was also an official selection at the Meihodo International Youth Visual Media Festival, Japan. It will be screened between December 11 and 12 this year at Meihodo Washoku Culture Museum, Fukuoka, Japan. This film also has received official selection at Sanse Cortos en Abirto, Spain. This international film festival will be held in November.
His short film, The Right Glass, which is a silent short based on child rights, won the Encouragement Award at International Public Advertisement Festival in Seoul. There were several such films from across the globe based on themes like human RIghts, Peace, environment and happiness.
Moreover, his music video, Who Bhi Kya Din The Yaar, received first Runner Up Best Music Video award at Global Indie Film Awards. “This is the seventh award this music video got in the past two and half months,” he said.
