Bus carrying Odia migrant labourers from Surat meets with accident at Kalinga Ghati, one killed

Bhubaneswar: A bus carrying Odia migrant labourers from Surat in Gujarat met with an accident on Saturday evening near Andharkot on the border of Ganjam and Kandhamal districts. One person was killed and other was critically injured in the incident.
Around 60 people including children were coming in the bus with Gujarat registration number. It dashed against the barricade along the roadside.
Satyabrat Bhoi, DIG of police, southern range, Berhampur, said one person was killed in the accident after the bus met with an accident while coming down from Kalinga Ghati, he added.
“One person was seriously injured in the accident. Other passengers were taken to a nearby hospital. Fire services team and other government officials reached the spot. Rescue operation was underway,” said Bhoi.
Transport minister Padmanav Behera said seven buses carrying migrant labourers were coming from Surat. One of these buses dashed against the barricade of road at Kalinga Ghati. “We are taking all measures to treat other injured persons. Most of the passengers have escaped unhurt,” he added.
