Covid-19: Another dies, 130 more test positive in Odisha

BHUBANESWAR: A 63-year-old man of Bhubaneswar died of Covid-19 raising the number of deaths due to the virus in state to eight. The number of infected identified so far in state rose to 2,608 after 130 more tested positive, the health department updates on its website show.
“Regret to inform that a 63-year-old male patient of Khurda district who had tested positive for Covid, passed away while under treatment in hospital. He was a chronic patient of diabetes and other underlying comorbidities,” the health department tweeted.
A health department officer said the patient was a native of Unit VII area of the state capital and was admitted to a Covid hospital here. “He had uncontrollable diabetes and he developed bilateral pneumonia due to Covid,” the officer said. It is the fourth death from corona in city, while Ganjam has reported three and Cuttack one earlier.
The 130 new positive reported from 21 districts include 32 from Cuttack besides 22 each from Khurda and Mayurbhanj and 12 from Ganjam among others.
The health department said 123 more Covid patients recovered, raising the number of total recovered cases of Odisha to 1604. The newly cured patients are from Ganjam (35) Cuttack (22), 14 each from Nuapada and Balangir, Khurda (10), Kandhamal (7), Koraput (5), Kendrapara (4), three each from Balasore, Dhenkanal and Nayagarh besides one each from Angul, Mayurbhanj and Sundargarh.
