DPS student from Rourkela tops IIT-Kharagpur zone in JEE Advanced
BHUBANESWAR/ROURKELA: Results of the JEE Advanced examination were published on Monday. Samarth Agarwal, a Rourkela boy, secured All India Rank 25. He also topped the IIT Kharagpur zone.
Agarwal, a student of DPS Rourkela, took coaching for the examination at Kota in Rajasthan after completing Class X. He is the son of businessman Sanjay Agarwal, a resident of civil township area of Rourkela city.
“I had done well in the JEE Advanced examination. But I did not expect a rank as high as 25. I will take admission in computer science and engineering in IIT Bombay. My aim is to excel in academics and become an entrepreneur,” said Samarth.
Rounak Dalmia, son of a businessman from Kantabanji in Balangir district, got All India Rank 52. He was in the fourth position in the IIT Kharagpur zone. “My brother Manthan Dalmia and I had appeared for the test at an examination centre in Raipur. I got AIR 52 and he secured 100,” he added.
He said they had completed their schooling from Balangir. “We had gone to Kota for preparation after schooling. In January, we had returned home. Later, the Covid pandemic situation struck the country. We took the help of our teachers online for preparation at home,” he added.
His cousin Manthan said they will pursue computer science in IIT Bombay. “As we stay together, we both helped each other in studies. Family members also helped us,” he added.
Sibasish Rout from SAI International School Bhubaneswar has secured All India Rank 73 in the entrance test. Rout would prepare for 8-10 hours per day for the examination. “I was doing self-study after attending several online classes. The repeated revisions, tests and focussed study helped me get this rank,” he added.
