Odisha CM Naveen Patnaik chairs a meeting through video confrencing.
BHUBANESWAR: Chief minister Naveen Patnaik on Friday launched Odisha Agni-Shama Seva portal (http://www.agnishamaseva.odisha.gov.in) for issuance of fire safety certificates on different categories of buildings through online.
“As many as eight services would be available to the public through online mode. The fire service directorate has been asked to include all other services by October 2 this year,” said a statement from the chief minister’s office.
Naveen said the online service would enhance efficiency, improve transparency and help provide timely services to applicants. “This is a priority area of my government under ‘5T’ initiatives that aim at bringing transformation in governance through parameters of technology, teamwork, transparency and time,” the written statement from the chief minister’s office said.
The chief minister appreciated Odisha fire services personnel for having carried out massive restoration work in West Bengal in the aftermath of Cyclone Amphan in May. “Your humane gesture was again distinctly evident when the personnel volunteered to donate plasma for the treatment of critical Covid patients,” the statement said.
In November last year, the state government came across massive irregularities in the grant of manual fire safety certificates. Complaints had come pouring in that people, mostly commercial and business establishments had been suffering to get fire safety certificates despite running from pillar to post for several days.
In November last year, the state home department notified new procedures for issue and renewal of fire safety certificates and fire safety recommendation in accordance with Odisha fire prevention and fire safety (amended) rules, 2019.
