Forest official arrested on DA charges

BHUBANESWAR: Vigilance on Thursday arrested Prasant Kumar Swain, an assistant conservator of forests (ACF) of the wildlife division in Puri, for allegedly possessing assets disproportionate to his known source of income.
The anti-corruption officials had raided his house and office on Wednesday.
“After our search and inventory of his wealth, we found him possessing assets worth nearly Rs 1.16 crore. Following calculation, his disproportionate assets stood at nearly Rs 76 lakh,” a vigilance official said.
The official added that Swain owned a triple-storey building in Bhubaneswar, a house in Puri and another house in his native village Sisilo in Khurda.
