Haj pilgrims told to deposit 1st instalment

Bhubaneswar: The Haj Committee of India has asked all provisionally selected Haj pilgrims to deposit the first instalment, around Rs 1.20 lakh , by May 19, an official said on Friday. The fresh order came after the last date (May 10) for deposit of advance amount of Rs 81,000.
The official said 387 out of the selected 466 prospective Haj pilgrims from Odisha have deposited their advance amount. He said they were expecting the deposit of first instalment from a similar number of prospective pilgrims.
The Haj committee has said that after remittance of the first instalment either through bank deposit or online, the provisionally selected Haj pilgrims will have to deposit a copy of their pay-in-slip at the state Haj committee office within May 19. The final Haj amount will be decided after the finalisation of airfare and expenses. TNN
