Odia girl tops CDS exam among women
BHUBANESWAR: Odia girl Aditi Parida, 20, has topped the 2019 Combined Defence Service (CDS) exam, the results of which was declared on Saturday. Aditi is the first from Odisha to top the CDS among women. The exam is held twice a year, in February and November.
Aditi, who topped the exam held in November, secured first position among 67 women candidates who cleared the exam for Officers Training Academy, Chennai. The merit list of 241 successful candidates included 174 men.
“I had never expected to top the merit list though I was sure I would get selected. I took a lot of time to digest the news. Since childhood I dreamt of joining the Indian Army and serve the motherland,” said Aditi whose father Voodev Parida is a brigadier in the Indian Army. Aditi is a graduate student of mass communication at Symbiosis College, Pune. She is trained in Odissi and Bharatnatyam and has also represented her university in volleyball.
“I cannot describe you in words how happy and proud I am for Aditi’s achievements. She has been very hard working and sincere since childhood,” said her mother Sujata Parida.
