Odisha: 72-year-old man ‘attacked’ by sons

KENDRAPADA: A 72-year-old man was seriously injured in an alleged attack by his two sons over a property dispute at Bhutamundai village, under Paradip Lock police station of Jagatsinghpur district recently.
However, the police are reportedly yet to arrest the accused. Balaram Chaudhury suffered serious head injuries and is now battling for life. The 72-year-old has movable and immovable properties worth crores. The family also owns 11 trucks. It is learnt that the night of July 10, his sons, Ajit and Ranjit attacked Balaram with a sharp weapon, resulting in head injuries. The next day, Balaram filed an FIR against both his sons in the police station.
When contacted, Pravat Sahoo, IIC of Paradip Lock police station, said, “Our preliminary investigation points to a dispute over family property. Acting on the FIR of the father, we filed a case under various sections of IPC against both the sons. Investigation is on and they will be arrested soon.”
