Odisha girl eyes Guinness record for fastest elbow strikes on a punching bag
BHUBANESWAR: Kajal Pandey from Rourkela who recently entered International Book of Records for making fastest elbow strikes by both hands on a punching bag (women), has set her eyes on entering the Guinness Book of Records.
The 21-year old law student has achieved the record of 291 elbow strikes in one minute on a punching bag. “On one single day I attempted this for seven different books of world records. The whole process was certified and verified. Now my aim is to get into the Guinness Book of Records, the application process for which has already started,” said Pandey.
Kajal started practicing martial art at the age of 10 by learning karate and then she learnt Taekwondo. “Basically I thought of doing this record because I felt that people think do not take martial art as a sport even if a few people know about it they think it more for the boys and less for the girls. My aim is to create the awareness among the people about bringing more girls to sports and to create a sports culture in the country,” said Kajal.
Kajal who has entered her name in to the Guinness Book of Records for a team event said, the Guinness record for an individual in this category for women was for 242 elbow strikes. “I am a bit confident that I could achieve this target of entering into the Guinness Book of Records in this category. I wish to change the mindset of the society towards girls and women should not be considered weak in any means,” she added
