Odisha Joint Entrance Examination plans to verify admission docus online
BHUBANESWAR: The Odisha Joint Entrance Examination (OJEE) authorities will verify documents of students online during counselling for BTech, BArch and Integrated MSc courses. Students don’t have to visit any nodal centre for document verification because of the Covid-19 situation.
OJEE chairman S K Chand said they would conduct web-based counselling this year. “Till last year, we would set up nodal centres for counselling and document verification. Students used to come to the centres on different dates,” he added.
Chand said they had moved away from the offline process because of the pandemic. “In the web-based counselling process, candidates will upload their documents on the OJEE website and our team will verify them. After this, they can download their allotment letter for admission,” he added.
An official involved in the counselling process said the visit of hundreds of students and their guardians to a nodal centre was a bad idea. “If verification can be done online, there is no need for physical presence of students,” he added.
“During document verification, some queries may be raised by verifying officers. Candidates must check their ID regularly during counselling for any message. The query raised must be replied to within the due date. Otherwise the document verification will be cancelled and the allotted seat will be withdrawn,” said the OJEE sources.
Online registration of students who want to take part in the counselling for BTech, BArch and Integrated MSc courses started from October 12.
Candidates with JEE Main rank can fill their choices online. Choice locking and registration will end on October 26.
