Partha Sarathi Ray remembers how he was inspired by Bijay Mohanty
Actor Partha Sarathi Ray said that the demise of actor Bijay Mohanty was the saddest moment for Odia cinema. While paying his last respect to the actor at Utkal Sangeet Natak Mahavidyalaya, the actor recalled how he was inspired while watching his films since childhood.
“It’s a sad moment for all of us – his fans and people from the fraternity – that Bijay sir is no more among us. He was always my favourite actor since childhood. Since he started his career in the late ’70s after passing out from NSD, he was a craze in Odisha. I remember we used to watch films on Sundays at home in our childhood and he would star in almost all films. Before even I could think about becoming an actor, I was a fan of him,” said Partha, whose work in National Award-winning film, Hello Arsi, prompted Bijay Mohanty to congratulate him.
He also recalled the time when he had got an opportunity to work with him. But he feels it’s unfortunate that he did not get more opportunities to work alongside him. “I had an opportunity of working with him in a documentary. But I never got a chance to work with him after that. However, he always encouraged young talents. He congratulated me after my film received National Award and I got state award. These are some of the fond memories I have of him,” recalled Partha, adding, “He will always be remembered through his works. Such legends never die, they remain immortal through their works.”
