Railways to play ‘Bande Utkal Janani’ in Odisha stations on Saturday

BHUBANESWAR: The East Coast Railway (ECoR) will play ‘Bande Utkal Janani‘ song at railway stations in Odisha at 5.30pm on Saturday as a mark of solidarity with and support for Covid warriors.
After getting a letter from the Odisha government, the ECoR has taken steps to play the state anthem at all its establishments in the geographical jurisdiction of Odisha where a public announcement system is available.
“This state anthem will be played at important railway stations, railway establishments and railway colonies,” said a statement of ECoR.
In a related development, the state government has decided to stop all traffic during the time of singing the song. Wherever the people are they should stay there and sing the song to encourage and pay respect to the Covid warriors, said a statement of the chief minister’s office.
Chief minister Naveen Patnaik appealed to Odias staying outside the country and state should stand up and sing the song.
