Sabyasachi works to send migrant labourers and stranded students home

Actor Sabyasachi Mishra is treading Sonu Sood‘s path. The Ollywood actor has been helping migrant workers and students, who have been stranded in different parts of the country, reach home. He has helped more than 1,500 such migrants and arranged transport facilities for them.

He was earlier helping people who needed medical help by making arrangements for them to avail themselves of the facilities. As news of his work spread, his fans – a group of students stuck in Rajasthan – requested him through a video message on social media for help and the actor arranged two buses for them. He also provided them with dry food for their journey.
After this batch of students arrived at their respective residences, he was flooded with SOS calls from migrant labourers to help them reach their home. “I have been doing all this work on my own. I have set up a control room in my house and have been connecting to people who send me messages on social media. I contact the officials in those states and arrange everything with the help of those officials and our officers here. I have helped more than 1,500 such people till date,” said Sabyasachi.
The actor responds to each and every such help calls by contacting them and verifying the authenticity. He then gets in touch with the state Covid control room for migrant workers and collects contact numbers of officials of the areas where the workers are stranded. “I have not been taking financial help from any other person till now and trying to do the work on my own. When I will feel that my resources are diminishing and I need help from others, I will go to them,” he shared.

He aims at raising a volunteer group across the country who will come up with help whenever he needs during the arrangements. “Two buses that were coming from Maharashtra broke down and I asked for help from people there. Odias residing there came forward and provided every possible help to the migrants till the buses were repaired. I need more such volunteers to come forward who can help in such situations,” said the actor who was heading to Biju Patnaik International Airport to receive the family members of a migrant labourer stranded in Bangalore.
The labourer’s mother recently suffered paralysis and the son had no income. Their landlord threw them out of their house. “After it came to my notice, I arranged air travel for seven members of the family. They are arriving now and I’m going to receive them. I’ll send them to their village in Bolangir,” Sabyasachi added.
While he has been helping Odia migrant labourers reach home, recently he got calls from migrants from other states who are stranded in Odisha. “I am going to send a family from Berhampur to Chennai. Besides, a Telugu fan who had watched my Telugu movie wanted some medical help to which I responded immediately,” said the actor who has done films in Odia, Telugu, Tamil and Bengali.
