Uttam Mohanty remembers bygone days with elder brother, Bijay Mohanty
Veteran actor Uttam Mohanty visited the Utkal Sangeet Natak Mahavidyalaya to pay his tribute to the late actor Bijay Mohanty. Both of them hailed from Baripada and started their career at the same time. While Uttam started his acting in films, Bijay Mohanty did theatre and went to NSD. However, Uttam also acted in Bijay’s first film.
“Both Bijay and I hail from Baripada. He started his career in theatre and went to NSD. In his first film, I got a chance to work with him. It so happened that in many films, he played the villain and I was the hero,” said Uttam, whose wife Aparajita Mohanty is also an actor and son Babushaan Mohanty is a leading actor now.
Uttam is younger to Bijay and was fond of Bijay. He treated him like his elder brother. “I always treated him as my elder brother. He has stood by me on all occasions. The Odisha film industry lost a great artiste. He was not only an actor but also a director and a linguist. I pray for the departed soul,” said the 66-year old actor.
