A short film based on the Covid-19 pandemic made by an art teacher, Gajendra Kumar Padhi, has won three international awards recently and has been selected for several other international festivals across the globe. The 12.22-minute silent film, Warrior’s War Within, won an award in the Dreamachine International Film Festival, Los Angeles, USA, World Film Carnival, Singapore, and Druk International Festival, Bhutan.

Talking about the film, Gajendra said it has been picturised against the backdrop of the novel coronavirus pandemic. “The story revolves around a nurse’s call of conscience and duty. On one side is her home and on the other, her hospital, where she has to do her duty. There is a war going on within her to make peace between a mother’s responsibility towards her child and moral accountability towards her duty. This short film is a reflection of the situation every Covid warrior is going through during this tough time,” he said.
He told us that the film has qualified as a finalist in the New York Movide Awards, USA, and two other official selections in Anatolia International Film Festival, Turkey, and Golden Istanbul Short Film Festival, Turkey. “With its universal appeal, I hope it would get more laurels in the coming days,” he said.
