All medical colleges in Odisha on list of vaccination sites
BHUBANESWAR: After a day’s break on Sunday, the vaccination drive will resume in the state on Monday. More session sites, covering a higher number of beneficiaries, will become operational from tomorrow.
All medical colleges in the state will be included in the vaccination drive and at least five sessions of immunization will be held at each site. The state began the vaccination drive for Covid-19 at 161 places. Around 14,000 people took the shot on Saturday.
The state government hopes to accelerate the vaccination drive and wrap up the first phase by January 25.
At each session site in the medical colleges, 200 beneficiaries will be given the vaccine every day. At each site, two vaccinators and four vaccination officers will be deployed. The medical colleges in the state will thus inoculate 1,000 health workers every day.
“This will accelerate the process of vaccination and help us complete the target of covering over 3.28 lakh health workers by January 25,” said director of family welfare, Bijay Panigrahy.
Besides the medical colleges, the state government will start one or two sessions of vaccination at all the district headquarters hospitals and sub-divisional hospitals based on the beneficiary load of the institutions. Each session site shall set a target to vaccinate 100 health workers per day.
At community health centres and urban health centres, one session each will be held. A hundred people will be vaccinated at each session. These sessions will be planned on three days of the week — Mondays, Thursdays and Saturdays.
The session microplan shall be prepared based on the vaccine availability and the consolidated plan shall be submitted to state by Monday noon, Panigrahy added.
Although 3.28 lakh health workers have been registered to get the vaccine in the first phase, around 1,92,555 health workers will get it. These recipients will get their second shot of the vaccine after 28 days, at the same session site, official sources said.
