Institutes step up Covid rules on campus

BHUBANESWAR: Following the direction of the University Grants Commission (UGC), universities and affiliated colleges in the state are taking steps to strengthen Covid-19 protocols on campuses.
In view of the Omicron fear, the educational institutions are asking students to strictly follow Covid-19 rules. However, pandemic fatigue is being equally witnessed at many institutions.
The UGC recently requested the vice-chancellors of all universities and principals of colleges to take appropriate measures while resuming offline classes and examinations.
Utkal University vice-chancellor Sabita Acharya said they have been following Covid-19 protocols, prescribed by the state and the UGC. “Students and teachers wear masks and maintain physical distance in classrooms. We have supplied sanitisers to all departments,” she added.
Acharya said they will make necessary arrangements inside examination halls. Around 15 students, instead of 30, will be allowed in an exam hall. She added that they have requested the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation to hold a Covid test camp on campus next week.
Sanjay Kumar Satapathy, vice-chancellor of Kalahandi University, said: “We are following the Covid guidelines and will continue to do so.”
