No new Covid-19 case in Odisha for third day in a row

BHUBANESWAR: Odisha has not reported any fresh Covid-19 positive case for the third straight day, with the government now ramping up its testing facilities and enhancing its awareness campaigns.
Total 3,082 samples were in seven laboratories in past 72 hours, none were found to be positive. All the 1,042 samples tested on Friday, returned negative. Similarly, 1,197 samples tested on Wednesday and 843 on Thursday across the seven laboratories in the state, all of them have tested negative, according to the data on the website of the health department.
The state has so far tested total 8,619 samples, 60 of which have tested positive. Of these 60, 21 have recovered. At present, there are 38 active cases (one death). While 32 cases are from Bhubaneswar alone, the other six are from Kalahandi (1), Dhenkanal (1), Jajpur (1), Bhadrak (1), and Kendrapada (2).
Altogether Covid-19 positive cases were reported from nine districts across the state. In Cuttack and Puri, which had reported one positive case each, both the patients have recovered and tested negative twice.
Similarly, of the three patients in Bhadrak, which is designated as a hotspot by the Union ministry of health and family welfare, two patients have recovered. The samples of their close contacts have tested negative too, health department sources said.
The Centre on Friday said the doubling rate in 19 states, including Odisha, is lower than the national average of 6.1 days. Odisha had reported the first Covid-19 case in March 15.
Encouraged by the situation, the state government is looking forward to ease restrictions in unaffected areas or places with low transmission of the virus.
