Odisha CM Naveen Patnaik welcomes tourists to explore eco-retreats

BHUBANESWAR: Chief minister Naveen Patnaik on Wednesday inaugurated the Eco Retreat glamping festival at seven places in the state.
The festival is being held at the idyllic locations of Satkosia, Bhitarkanika, Daringbadi, Hirakud, Pati Sonapur, Koraput and Chandrabhaga beach in Konark, where the government has set up luxury tents in a bid to attract high-end tourists.
“Riding on the popularity of our Eco Retreat model which has received enthusiastic response in all the previous editions across five diverse locales, we have added two more locations – one in Koraput and another in Ganjam – this year. Eco Retreat 2021 will go a long way in encouraging tourists from across India to explore these beautiful destinations set deep in the hinterlands of Odisha,” said Naveen.
“The facilities and services at the eco-retreats are in complete compliance of Covid safety norms,” he added.
“These are ideal getaways to enjoy much-needed leisure to conclude the eventful year and to celebrate in anticipation of a safer and happier future for all of us. I urge you all to keep exploring Odisha, India’s best kept secret,” Naveen said.
Apart from visiting nearby tourist places, visitors can enjoy a series of other activities including rifle shooting, archery, zorbing, cycling, cultural performances, yoga on hills and water sports. The cost of stay in these luxury tents begins from Rs 8,500 to Rs 14,000 per night. Tourists can book the tents directly through the Eco Retreat website after checking the availability.
“We conducted a dry run on October 13 and provided all facilities at the camping site. The sea beach at Pentha has been unexplored so far and we are trying our best to make their stay memorable,” said Himalaya Tripathy, tourist officer of Kendrapada.
