Odisha: Covid positive youth hopes to recover by helping others
BHUBANESWAR: He has been in home isolation and under medication after testing positive for Covid-19. Despite himself infected, he has been going out of his way to help others in distress.
Meet 27-year-old Manohar Tripathy, a resident of Jeypore in the district, who tested positive for Covid-19 a few days ago. “I have been voluntarily arranging for blood for patients who approach me for the past four years. Now when I am down with Covid, people still seek my help. I can’t ignore their calls,” Manohar, who works as a cameraman for a regional TV channel, said.
Manohar has formed a WhatsApp group called ‘Jeypore Blood Group’, which has more than 100 active blood donors. Any request for blood by the relatives of a patient is immediately addressed by the group members.
“Whenever I receive a call for blood, I coordinate with our group members and arrange for it. Even after contracting Covid, I have managed to source blood for at least four patients,” he said.
“Though I am in pain, I find immense satisfaction in helping others. Hopefully, this will help me recover faster,” he smiled.
