Odisha: Health professionals share their experience after taking second shot

BHUBANESWAR: Frontline health workers on Monday expressed their happiness after getting a second shot of the Covid-19 vaccine.
They had taken their first shot on the inaugural day of the nation-wide vaccination drive started on January 16. They said the vaccine is absolutely safe and appealed to others to take it without any hesitation.
AIIMS Bhubaneswar director Gitanjali Batmanabane said she took the second shot of the vaccine without any apprehension.

“I did not get any adverse events following immunization (AEFI) since the administration of the first shot on January 16. Even I did not get any pain while taking the vaccine shot. I am feeling absolutely fine,” she added.
She said there is no side effect or adverse effect of the vaccine so far.
“This vaccine is safe and people should not hesitate before taking it. I urge others to come forward and take this vaccine,” she added.
Sunil Kota, an endocrinologist from Berhampur, said he is feeling super excited and thankful to the government for taking care of health professionals from both the government and private sector.
“I do not have any apprehension about the vaccine. As the days are passing by, we are coming across more scientific data and real world experience from colleagues as well,” he added.
Kota said he did not get any AEFI. “Some have minor pain, fever, flu like self-limiting symptoms which could be addressed with simple paracetamol and anti-allergic drugs.
I appeal others to have faith in the vaccine regarding efficacy and safety. Any queries/ apprehensions, instead of relying on other means, talk to your doctor. Be patient, register yourself in Co-Win, wait for your turn and go get your shot without even an iota of hesitation,” he added.
Kanhu Patra, sub-divisional medical officer, Chatrapur, said he had no fear or apprehension about the vaccine’s efficacy during the first or second time of inoculation.
“I am feeling happy after getting the second shot. I took all precautions after taking the first shot of the vaccine. Now I am protected from Covid,” he added.
This 60-year-old doctor said he did not get any AEFI after the first shot.
“I was pretty confident at the way the vaccines were prepared scientifically. I feel confident after taking the second shot. I request others to take this vaccine immediately. Because vaccines are the only means to get rid of any possible second wave,” he added.
