BHUBANESWAR: Senior IAS officer Krishan Kumar came to the rescue of a road accident victim near Uttara on the city outskirts and shifted him in his vehicle to Capital Hospital on Thursday. With roads deserted during the Covid-induced lockdown and no helping hands around, timely intervention of Kumar saved the life of Ratnakar Pradhan (38), the injured man from Sakhigopal area in Puri district.
Kumar, the state works secretary and chief administrator of Jagannath temple administration, was returning from Puri to Bhubaneswar in the evening when he saw Pradhan bleeding in the middle of Puri-Bhubaneswar national highway-316 near Kausalyagang. He immediately asked his driver to stop and walked out of his vehicle to inquire about the injured man’s health.
“The man was groaning in pain. Perhaps he was hit by an unknown vehicle. He suffered serious injuries on his head and left hand. We immediately took him to the Capital Hospital in our vehicle. The patient’s condition is stable,” said Kumar’s driver. The IAS officer said he is glad that the accident victim is safe.
