Odisha: One week extension for vaccination supply bid

BHUBANESWAR: The state government has extended the date for inviting bids for vaccine supply through global e-tender by a week amid several requests from prospective vendors and also owing to Cyclone Yaas. The e-tender was floated through state PSU Odisha State Medical Corporation Limited (OSMCL) to procure the Covid-19 vaccines for inoculating the 18-44 group at a faster pace.
The last date for the submission of online bids was 10am on Friday. The opening of the price bid was scheduled at 5pm on the same day. But the state government has given a new date for the bidders to submit their online bid. Now the end date and time of online submissions is 10am on June 4. The online technical bid will be opened at 11.30am on the same day, while the price bid will be opened at 5pm.
On May 10, the state cabinet chaired by chief minister Naveen Patnaik had approved the floating of a global tender to procure the Covid-19 vaccines. Odisha has 1.93 crore people in the 18-44 year age group. For two doses each for every person, the state needs 3.87 crore doses in all. The state has placed orders for 2.2 crore Covishield doses with SII and 10.34 lakh doses of Covaxin with Bharat Biotech. But it has only received a few lakh doses so far. As a result, it has not been able to roll out the vaccination drive across the state.
