Odisha records 64% growth in gross GST collection during November
BHUBANESWAR: Odisha recorded 64% growth in gross GST collection which comprises central GST (CGST), state GST (SGST), integrated GST (IGST) and cess in November with total collection is estimated at Rs 4,136 crore against Rs 2,528 crore collected during last November.
The collection is also the highest amongst major states as well as the highest ever gross collection of GST by the state ever since launching of the new tax regime, said an official statement.
Figures released by the office of state GST commissioner’s office said progressive GST collection till November of the current 2021-22 financial year is pegged at Rs 28,032 crore compared to Rs 17,229 crore collected till corresponding period of the previous fiscal. The collection was Rs 19,366 till November of the 2019-20 fiscal.
The SGST collection in November is estimated at Rs 1,157 crore, a growth of nearly 70% over the collection of last November as SGST collection in last November is estimated at Rs 681 crore.
According to the figure, the SGST collection till November of the current fiscal is pegged at Rs 7,977 crore against Rs 5,013 crore collected up to November of the previous fiscal. In 2019-20 fiscal, the SGST collection till November was Rs 5661 crore.
Besides SGST, collection from the state during November is Rs 1,001 crore under CGST, Rs 1,223 crore under IGST and Rs 735 crore under cess.
“The growth during November is a result of increase in collection from automobile, mining and manufacturing sector. Further, non-filer management and regular return scrutiny by circles combined with enforcement activities has resulted in better compliance by taxpayers,” said a senior official in the GST commissioner’s office.
As far as VAT collection from petroleum products and liquor is concerned, the state has recorded over 40% growth with total collection of Rs 844 crore compared to Rs 601 crore during November last year. Of the total collected VAT, collection from petroleum products is Rs 675 crore while collection from liquor is estimated at Rs 168 crore during the month.
