Odisha reports four more Omicron cases, all stable

BHUBANESWAR: Odisha on Sunday reported four more Omicron infections, taking the total number of such cases in the state to eight so far. All the four have mild symptoms. Two have returned from Nigeria and one each from Dubai and Saudi Arabia. Their health condition is stable.
Bijay Mohapatra, director of health services, said, “Two persons, who came in contact with the Nigeria returnees, have tested negative for Covid. The contacts of the other two patients are being traced. Their samples will be sent to the Institute of Life Sciences here for genome study, as per protocol. The foreign returnees are in self-isolation and are being tracked. So far there has been no compromise on that front. We are ensuring that they remain segregated and their contacts are traced.”
Ajay Parida, director of ILS, said, “Apart from the four samples that tested positive for Omicron during genome sequencing, we have received two more samples. In fact, the samples of the suspected contacts are also being sent to us for genome analysis.”
