BHUBANESWAR: The higher education department on Monday issued a deadline and guidelines for the second round of spot admissions into the vacant PG seats of the state public universities and autonomous colleges for the academic session 2021-22. Beginning Wednesday, the admissions will continue until December 30.
On finding that some seats were left to be filled even after the first few rounds of admissions, the government came up with the idea of a fresh round of the process for those who have secured ranks in the common PG entrance test (CPET)-2021. Those students who could not be selected earlier can apply now.
The common application form (CAF) will be available online from 11am onwards on December 15. The deadline for providing fresh options in the CAF is December 19. The merit list for the PG admissions will be published at 2pm on December 22.
Those who make it to the merit list must report to their colleges or universities on December 23 and December 24. The entire admission process will be completed by December 30, officials said.
According to the guidelines, the candidates are advised to go through the university or college-wise vacant seat position and cut-off marks on the SAMS website and choose judiciously while applying for admissions into the universities or colleges. The selection will be done on merit (career marks along with CPET marks) only.
The officials said about 2,800 PG seats are lying vacant in different state public universities and degree colleges across the state. More than 2,700 seats were filled during the earlier rounds of admissions. The state has altogether 14,968 PG seats in 59 degree colleges and 14 public universities. The universities have 8,410 PG seats, while the colleges have an intake capacity of 6,590 students.
