Odisha: Seven migrant workers jump off special trains, police put them in quarantine
ANGUL: Police on Sunday detained at least seven migrant workers when they were trying to flee from a special train coming from Ahmedabad to Khurda Road carrying stranded Odia migrant workers. All the detained persons have been sent to quarantine centres, police said.
The train carrying around 1200 migrant workers had left Ahmedabad on Saturday. When the train was approaching the Angul station at around 7.30pm, some of the migrants tried to stop the train by chain-pulling near Majhika under Jarpara police station in Angul district. When the train stopped they jumped off the train and tried to flee.
However, seven of them have been nabbed by locals . getting information, police reached the spot and sent them to quarantine centres.
Angul SP Jagmohan Meena told TOI that police detained all seven persons belong to Deogarh district. “We have sent all the seven persons to quarantine centres. They will stay there till their period of testing is over. After their test reports come, if they found negative, we will register case and take action accordingly,” he added.
