Two state BJP leaders on mission in poll-bound West Bengal, Assam

BHUBANESWAR: Ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to West Bengal on Sunday, Union oil and steel minister Dharmendra Pradhan began a three-day tour of the poll-bound state on Friday.
Dharmendra, who plays a prominent role in BJP’s battle for Bengal, visited Matix Fertilisers and Chemicals Ltd in Panagarh on Friday. “Reviewed preparations at Matix Fertilisers Plant in Durgapur ahead of Hon. PM Shri @narendramodi’s visit to West Bengal on February 7 where he will dedicate key infrastructure projects to the nation. This will be a momentous occasion for eastern India,” Dharmendra tweeted soon after his visit.
“Matix Fertilizer plant is one of the world’s largest single-stream ammonia and urea plant. Commencement of affordable gas supply will boost production of urea, enhance agricultural productivity in the region and also generate direct and indirect employment opportunities,” he added.
On Saturday, he is scheduled to review the progress of various oil and gas projects with oil distribution companies as well as take stock of preparations for PM’s visit.
Another BJP leader from Odisha, Baijayant Panda has been mostly camping in Assam, which will also go to polls in March-April. Ever since his appointment as ‘prabhari’ (in-charge) of Assam in November last year, the BJP national vice-president has been spending most of his time in the northeastern state.
“He is keenly involved in reaching out to the booth-level workers to micro-manage strategies there. He has been working harder than he did during his own election,” said a BJP leader’s close aide.
